The Garden in High Summer

While I was vacationing in sunny California the first half of July, Atlanta was getting torrential rains every day. I returned home wondering how my neglected garden would look after seventeen days of being away, and found – instead of a garden – a jungle!

Which is better than returning to a parched garden ravaged by a drought, which is what gardeners in Atlanta have been enduring in a long string of recent summers.

I’m still amazed at the sheer size of my plants this year. Especially astonishing in their hugeness: the elephant ears, the grape vine, the trumpet vine, and the ferns!
